West Coast Steel Design, Inc. specializes in structural steel detailing. Mike Attolico,
the founder, has nearly 40 years of experience in detailing and fabrication. Armed with a
select team of sharp detailers, all local to Northern California, we provide accurate,
reliable, and prompt service to steel fabrication companies in California and Nevada. We
have tremendous knowledge and experience with common steel fabrication and erection
procedures, common and current steel member connections, the AWS Structural Welding
Code, and popular structural steel framing techniques along with traditional wood
framing practices. Our expertise is evident in our long-term relationships which we have
built with all our customers. We consider ourselves part of our customers’ teams and we
aim to work their specific needs to achieve the best results for them. We
see great value in helping our customers achieve success and in building great
relationships, it’s a win-win!

Our team has completed well over 3,000 projects to date. These range in size from simple moment frames to large multi-story projects and complex structures. Our experience in detailing structural steel in large custom homes has become a niche where we truly excel and provide value. Our work also covers commercial, industrial, and public works including schools. If you desire, we have valuable experience in communicating directly with architects, engineers, contractors, and framers to clarify or request information, seek solutions to problems within the contract drawings, and offer solutions based on experience, all with your collaboration and your best interests in mind.

We are proud to share that our projects are detailed using Tekla Structures software. This is a state of the art, 3D model-based detailing software, which we believe is a huge benefit for our customers and includes:

•  Insuring accurate fit up during fabrication and installation

• Accurate creation of BOM lists for ordering material

• Files for CNC type fabrication processes including plate cutting, beam lines, etc..

• Creation of a 3D model of the structure to visually help understand it quicker.

• BIM collaboration with all project team members when desired.
